The primary purpose of Pecos Arroyo Watershed Site 1 is flood risk reduction. The dam stands 49 feet tall and stretches 1,460 feet across, creates a reservoir covering 166 acres, has a maximum storage capacity of 1,723 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 18 square miles. Completed in 1965, the structure is well into its service life at over 50 years old.
