It impounds the Tr-thompson River near Chillicothe.

The dam stands 32 feet tall and stretches 320 feet across, creates a reservoir covering 21 acres, has a maximum storage capacity of 30 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 280 square miles. Completed in 1977, the structure is 49 years old.
