The primary purpose of Pat Hartness Dam is flood risk reduction. The dam is designed to control downstream flooding by temporarily storing excess water during storms and releasing it at a controlled rate. The dam is owned by Triple Tree Aerodrome Inc (private). It impounds the Tr-enoree River.

The dam stands 41 feet tall, creates a reservoir covering 40 acres, and has a maximum storage capacity of 750 acre-feet. Completed in 1998, the structure is 28 years old.
