The primary purpose of Pittman East Detention Basin Dam is flood risk reduction. It impounds the Pittman Wash near Henderson.

The dam stands 49 feet tall and stretches 6,775 feet across, creates a reservoir covering 141 acres, has a maximum storage capacity of 2,548 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 33 square miles. Completed in 2003, the structure is relatively new.
