The primary purpose of Hiko Springs Detention Basin Dam is flood risk reduction. The dam is owned by Clark County Public Works (local government). It impounds the Hiko Springs Wash near Laughlin.

The dam stands 88 feet tall and stretches 2,300 feet across, creates a reservoir covering 41 acres, has a maximum storage capacity of 2,025 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 19 square miles. Completed in 1996, the structure is 30 years old.
