The primary purpose of Cub Creek 13-c is flood risk reduction. The dam is designed to control downstream flooding by temporarily storing excess water during storms and releasing it at a controlled rate. The dam is owned by Lower Big Blue Natural Resources District (local government). It impounds the Tr-cub Creek near Beatrice.

The dam stands 33 feet tall and stretches 1,214 feet across, creates a reservoir covering 65 acres, has a maximum storage capacity of 1,390 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 4 square miles. Completed in 1977, the structure is 49 years old.
