Schupmann Lake Dam is an earth dam located in Lincoln County, Missouri, built in 1972. It carries a Low hazard potential classification.

About Schupmann Lake Dam

The primary purpose of Schupmann Lake Dam is grade stabilization. Grade stabilization dams prevent erosion by reducing the slope and velocity of water flowing through a channel. They're commonly used to stop gullies from deepening and to protect downstream land and infrastructure. The dam is owned by Irvan Schupmann (private). It impounds the Tr-coon Creek near Chain Of Rocks.

The dam stands 34 feet tall and stretches 378 feet across, creates a reservoir covering 4 acres, has a maximum storage capacity of 109 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 200 square miles. Completed in 1972, the structure is well into its service life at over 50 years old.

This dam has a low hazard potential classification, meaning that failure would cause minimal damage, limited primarily to the dam owner's property, with no expected loss of life.

At 34 feet, this dam is taller than 80% of dams nationwide.
