The primary purpose of Robinson is tailings. It impounds the East Fork Eagle River-tr near Redcliff.

The dam stands 110 feet tall and stretches 1,455 feet across, creates a reservoir covering 80 acres, has a maximum storage capacity of 3,648 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 1 square miles. Completed in 1936, the structure is well-established, with more than 75 years of service.
