The primary purpose of Odell is irrigation. The dam stores and diverts water for agricultural irrigation, supporting farming operations in the surrounding area. The dam is owned by Pinewood Country Club (private). It impounds the Munds Canyon - Tr near Pinewood & Munds Park.

The dam stands 14 feet tall and stretches 462 feet across, has a maximum storage capacity of 725 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 20 square miles. Completed in 1978, the structure is 48 years old.
