The primary purpose of Lake Auman Dam is recreation. The dam creates a reservoir used for recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and swimming. The dam is owned by Seven Lakes West Landowners Association (private).

The dam stands 93 feet tall and stretches 2,600 feet across, creates a reservoir covering 753 acres, has a maximum storage capacity of 28,014 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 4 square miles. Completed in 1979, the structure is 47 years old.
