Lindquist Dam

Lindquist Dam is an earth dam located in Schuyler County, Missouri, built in 2005. It carries a Low hazard potential classification.

About Lindquist Dam

The primary purpose of Lindquist Dam is grade stabilization. Grade stabilization dams prevent erosion by reducing the slope and velocity of water flowing through a channel. They're commonly used to stop gullies from deepening and to protect downstream land and infrastructure. The dam is owned by Gary Lindquist (private). It impounds the Tr-hazel Creek near Novinger.

The dam stands 32 feet tall and stretches 300 feet across, creates a reservoir covering 5 acres, has a maximum storage capacity of 28 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 202 square miles. Completed in 2005, the structure is relatively new.

This dam has a low hazard potential classification, meaning that failure would cause minimal damage, limited primarily to the dam owner's property, with no expected loss of life. The most recent inspection on record was 09/15/2005. That was over 20 years ago.

At 32 feet, this dam is taller than 76% of dams nationwide.
