Wendt Dam

Wendt Dam is an earth dam located in Scotland County, Missouri, built in 2004. It carries a Low hazard potential classification.

About Wendt Dam

The primary purpose of Wendt Dam is grade stabilization. Grade stabilization dams prevent erosion by reducing the slope and velocity of water flowing through a channel. They're commonly used to stop gullies from deepening and to protect downstream land and infrastructure. The dam is owned by Brandon Wendt (private). It impounds the Tr-south Wyaconda near Arbela.

The dam stands 32 feet tall and stretches 340 feet across, creates a reservoir covering 15 acres, has a maximum storage capacity of 29 acre-feet, and collects water from a drainage area of 100 square miles. Completed in 2004, the structure is relatively new.

This dam has a low hazard potential classification, meaning that failure would cause minimal damage, limited primarily to the dam owner's property, with no expected loss of life. The most recent inspection on record was 11/01/2004. That was over 21 years ago.

At 32 feet, this dam is taller than 76% of dams nationwide.
